Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms in addition to the arms control. She traveled widely with the president Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
